My group for the Professional Practice module consists of; Jayde, Rosy, Caroline, and myself. We have all agreed to put together a book mainly focusing on London's transport system and how it will be effected during the Olympics 2012. As Rosy and Caroline are photography students they will be taking photographs and Jayde and myself will be putting the book together, however, we can help out with the others subjects too.
THE AIM:
:: Our aim is to look at the effects and issues that could be caused by the building of the Olympic sites.
:: Throughout this project the focus will be on the effect of the Olympics on the London transport system.
:: For our final product we are going to be creating a small book, containing information and photographs of the issues addressed above.
FOR:
The Olympics would be a good thing to have held in London because:
:: Creates more jobs
:: Brings in tourism trade
:: Allows East London to be regenerated
:: Allows for better transport links
:: Encourage younger people to become involved
:: Less crime
:: Olympic village will create more housing
:: Aquatics centre will allow for a swimming centre
:: The business community will be benefiting the opportunities the games present
:: Rise in house prices, allowing locals to sell for more
AGAINST:
The Olympics would be a bad thing the be held in London because:
:: The transport system may not cope
:: Noise pollution
:: Total cost of building
:: Relocation of people who currently live on the site
:: Local business' could be effected
:: Wildlife and habitats of animals would be destroyed
:: Possible target for terrorism
IMAGES:
:: Rosy and Caroline have walked around the main site and photographed the building work that is taking place
:: Access is very limited to the site, therefore it has proved very difficult to get in to take photographs
:: We will continue to document the process of the Olympic site, but will mainly be focusing on the London transport system and the new projects surrounding it
:: We will be photographing at different times of the day
:: We would like to photograph and interview the workmen working on the project
:: The images will be photoshopped
CONTACTS:
:: Throughout this project we have been in touch with various people linked with the 2012 Olympics
:: We have emailed the Mayor, who has forwarded us to The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games
:: We have been in contact with Janelle Rayburn at TFL
:: We are trying to get in touch with Lance Foreman who is a local business man who has been re-located
After presenting our ideas to Tim, Ralph and the rest of the group we have decided to leave out the sailing centre in Portland/Weymouth and just focus on our main point, being the London Transport.
Ralph has informed us that he knows someone who may help us gain access into the site, so we can take better photographs and carry out some interviews.
