My viewpoint of the city is socialising with my friends, as I don't live too far out of London it is very simple for me to meet up with friends there. So for me when I think of London, that is what comes to mind, being out with my friends having a few drinks (sometimes more than a few).
My first idea for postcards was documenting my favourite places to meet up with people. My first postcard idea was to produce a small map showing all the best places we like to drink.

On my way to take the photographs of the bars we like to drink at I had a policeman hand me a set of information postcards on travelling home safely. This gave me the idea of producing postcards informing people the dangers of drinking and to not over do it on a night out. I used photographs of my friends that I took of them when they had been out and had a bit too much to drink.

I decided to do another set of postcards with the theme being Live Music venues. I took photos of a few venues that I have actually attended for gigs. The postcards tie in with my assemblage project as the majority of the tickets and wristbands I used were for the venues I turned into postcards. The postcards are personal to me as I always have a good time when I go to gigs and tend to discover new bands on the night.
I made my previous set of postcards by printing the main image out and then printing the backs out separately and sticking them together. I stuck sticky back plastic on the main image to give it a shiny look that postcards have. Although it worked well I feel like it could look a bit more professional. For the music venue set I will print the photos out on to photo paper, print the back out separately and then stick them together. I feel that my postcard of the Astoria on it's last night that it held a gig is very historical as the building is being knocked down to make way for a cross rail project. I have many memories of the Astoria and when I look at the postcard I will remember how good it's last night was, I'm sure many other people can associate with this as it is such a loved venue and people are sad to see it go.
